On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, our community came together for one of the most meaningful evenings of the year — Flowers on the Lake. As the sun set over Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park, 2,025 purple carnations were gently placed upon the water, each one symbolizing a life impacted by domestic violence.

The lake shimmered with light and color as survivors, advocates, first responders, community leaders, and families stood side by side — united in remembrance of those we have lost and in solidarity with those still finding their way to safety and healing.

This year’s event, co-hosted by the Montgomery County Women’s Center and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and The Montgomery County Veterans Commission, was a moving tribute filled with powerful words, heartfelt prayers, and shared strength.

💜 Judge Echo Hutson, Domestic Violence Chief at the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, opened the evening with words that reminded us all why we gather: “We will remain brave, we will remain strong, and we will keep those victims safe.”

From the invocation and pledges, to survivor Jessica Osborn’s powerful story of resilience, to the Blessing of the Flowers led by Chaplain Steven Hummer, each moment carried deep emotion and purpose. As the last carnations floated away, the water reflected not only the pink hues of the sunset — but also the collective hope of a community determined to end domestic violence.

This night could not have been possible without the incredible dedication of so many:
✨ Our event speakers who shared their hearts and voices
✨ Our volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes
✨ Our community partners who serve survivors every single day
✨ And our attendees — every individual, family, and friend who showed up to stand against domestic violence

Your presence made a difference. Your compassion fuels the work we do at the Montgomery County Women’s Center every day — offering safety, healing, and empowerment to survivors and their families.

Together, we sent 2,025 messages of hope across the lake — and each one rippled outward, reminding us that no one is alone. 💜

Thank you for being part of this year’s Flowers on the Lake. We look forward to standing with you again next October as we continue to turn remembrance into action, and hope into change.
