For more than 30 years, nonprofit organizations across Montgomery County have come together to honor the very best of our community — those whose compassion, humility, and unwavering dedication make a lasting difference. This year, we are proud to recognize Glenn Cunningham, a long-time volunteer whose heart for service has impacted countless lives at Montgomery County Women’s Center. Glenn embodies what it means to show up — consistently, selflessly, and with a deep commitment to supporting survivors and strengthening our community. Her tireless efforts, quiet strength, and generous spirit make her truly deserving of the title 2026 Woman of Distinction. Join us in celebrating Glenn and the incredible volunteers from across Montgomery County who will be honored this May. These women remind us that real change begins with compassion in action.

💜Meet Our 2026 Woman of Distinction 💜

Glenn Cunningham is an Australian native whose life and career have taken her across the globe. With a professional background as both a hairdresser and an aerobics instructor, Glenn spent many years traveling internationally, immersing herself in diverse cultures and communities. Her experiences living in several developing countries shaped a deep commitment to service, inspiring her to participate in local organizations ranging from food banks and libraries to community support groups.

A devoted mother of three sons and grandmother to four, Glenn returns to Australia each year to spend cherished time with her family. Nearly two decades ago, she made her home in the United States, where she continued seeking meaningful ways to contribute. Nine years ago, during one of her explorations around the area, she discovered Something Special and inquired about volunteer opportunities. That moment marked the beginning of her long-standing dedication to the Montgomery County Women’s Center.

Glenn considers her volunteer work a way of giving back for the good fortune she has experienced in life. Having never faced the hardships of food insecurity, homelessness, or personal safety threats, she views service as an opportunity to pay it forward. Whether offering comfort, listening with compassion, or simply reassuring someone that they are safe, Glenn brings a steady, calming presence to those in crisis. She believes that every day is different, and every interaction is a chance to make a meaningful impact.

Her unwavering commitment, empathy, and willingness to help in any situation have made her a valued member of the community and a trusted source of support for those who walk through the center’s doors.
