This year we were excited to host our 5th Annual FLOWERS ON THE LAKE event.

The esteemed Judge Echo hosts the “Flowers On The Lake” event, an annual gathering dedicated to honoring the resilience and courage of survivors and victims of domestic violence. This event, taking place this October, is not just a poignant reminder of the hardships many in our community face but also a celebration of the strength and support that binds us together.

The Montgomery County Women’s Center is pivotal in this event, ensuring it serves as a beacon of hope and support. This free community event invites attendees to stand in solidarity while also offering avenues for donations and sponsorships to further the cause. Every contribution helps provide essential services to those in need, aligning perfectly with the values that your magazine upholds.

This event highlights the remarkable efforts of our community leaders and organizations and inspire action and awareness among your readers. The involvement of local dignitaries like Judge Echo underscores the importance of this cause and its impact on our society.

We are honored, each year, to invite the community to stand with us in a unified voice to show our support for victims/ survivors of domestic violence.

Each year in October, various elected officials, first responders, and members of victim service organizations join members of the community in a one-of-a-kind awareness event. They gather along the banks of the Montgomery County Veterans War Memorial Park to honor those in Montgomery County who have experienced domestic violence, placing fresh-cut carnations into the waters of the lake. This year, will be 2,024 fresh-cut carnations placed on the lake by event attendees, representing the unknown numbers of victims of domestic violence in Montgomery County, particularly those suffering in silence behind closed doors, too afraid to ask for help. The beauty of this event is breathtaking, as the flowers float out on the waters of the lake around sunset. Just ask anyone who has attended the past five years. And this year promises to be another exceptionally beautiful tribute. As word spreads of the event, anticipation builds that even more members of the community will attend this year, the message is going out that all are welcome and everyone is invited to attend. While the topic of domestic violence can often be dark and heavy, the community leaders who host the awareness event make every effort to keep the topic light, beautiful, and full of hope.
