Throughout the month of April, we will be joining the nation in promoting awareness of sexual assault with other agencies and organizations in our area.   (SAAM) gives our community the opportunity to speak up against sexual violence that will only grow if we keep silent.

In 2023, our advocates provided medical accompaniment to 873 sexual assault victims/survivors.

The pain and terror of family and sexual violence does not end with the attack. Survivors are often left to navigate the complex emotional, legal, medical, and financial waters alone. Montgomery County Women’s Center offers 24-hour medical accompaniment to survivors of family violence and/or sexual assault. We respond to requests for medical accompaniment for forensic examinations. Our advocates are a vital resource and an agent of hope when they accompany survivors to forensic exams, police stations, and court hearings. Providing information, validation, and encouragement, they empower survivors to reclaim control and recognize their strengths and worth.

If you, or someone you know, is a victim of sexual assault and in need of support please know YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH RIBBIN CUTTING

Sexual Assault Awareness Month Dedication & Ribbon Cutting! Thank you to the City of Conroe and all the community members who came together for this wonderful event and for TURNING THE TOWN TEAL! Preventing sexual violence, harassment, and abuse requires more than one voice. It takes a community of engaged individuals engaged in intentional and group-specific actions. Community is powerful. Community creates a sense of belonging and reminds us of how our beliefs, choices, and actions impact one another.

COMMUNITY WALK AGAINST SEXUAL ASSAULT (APRIL 12, 2024

Thank you to everyone who came out for our annual Community Walk Against Sexual Assault. This is an opportunity for the community to stand with advocacy organizations, like MCWC, and say in a powerful voice that “WE STAND WITH SURVIVORS”. Our 2024 Courthouse Display, titled “What Were You Wearing?,” illustrates stories shared by survivors about what they had on when they were sexually assaulted. Survivors of sexual assault are often asked, “What were you wearing?”. The purpose of this display is aimed to shatter the victim-blaming myth that sexual assault occurs due to a person’s choice in clothing.
