For more than 30 years, nonprofit organizations in Montgomery County have come together annually to honor one of their shining volunteers. She is recognized for the numerous hours, unyielding commitment, and loyal dedication she has provided to their agency. Their dedication, humility, and tireless effort to serve others and our community make these women stand out as a Woman of Distinction.

We are proud to announce our 2023 Woman of Distinction, Connie Taylor.

Connie Taylor was born in Lynwood, California, and attended Marymount University. She was employed for 47 years in the banking industry (at both Bank of America and Klein Bank, which merged with Amegy). She held various managerial positions at Bank of America and collaborated with the United Way during her tenure at both institutions. In addition to her employment history, she has extensive volunteer experience: For 20 years, she served as a board member for the Spring Independent School District’s (ISD) education foundation, including 3 ½ years as the board president. Their mission was to award grants (ranging from $500-$10,000) to teachers within the district. She also volunteered with Spring Assistance Ministries for approximately 15 years, purchasing and serving lunches to clients at the senior center. She spent four years volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), protecting the children on her caseload, including three brothers who were tragically separated by the system. (After ten years of separation, she helped reunite them and maintains a relationship with them. Sadly, only 5% of foster children in the U.S. ever attend college, and, thanks-in part-to her dedicated service, one of the brothers will be graduating from college shortly.) In addition to the above, she spent several years serving on the LCARW board, providing school supplies for children and Christmas gifts to clients at the Salvation Army. Finally, she has donated her services to the MCWC shelter for approximately one decade, preparing meals (with her loving husband) for the last several years.
