SHARE A FAMILY & SHELTER SANTA HOLIDAY PROGRAM
Every year, we provide an opportunity to bring joy to a family that’s holiday season looks and sounds a little different. Through our Holiday Program, our shelter residents and community families who have experienced domestic abuse are able to have some normalcy during the holidays through gifts donated by generous sponsors.
Whether you are participating with coworkers or with family, this program is a great opportunity to start a conversation about domestic violence and how it effect’s individuals in our community and gives you an opportunity to show survivors support during an often challenging time of year.
You can support the program by sponsoring a family or individual, hosting a giving tree, or making a monetary donation.
For three wonderful days in December, over 100 clients and families receive gifts, homemade cookies and hugs. They are overwhelmed by the generosity of strangers who provide holiday gifts for their families. If not for the compassion of the individuals and the companies who graciously adopt them, the holidays would be no different than any other day on the calendar. This event is made possible by the many generous donors who sponsor families or make cash donations.
Thank you for making the season magical for all!

Please enjoy some photos from our past Share-A-Family events. It takes the help of many volunteers to make this event happen and we THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Recognizing that education and vocation lead to independence, self-sufficiency, and a life free of violence, MCWC offers scholarship opportunities to our clients. The funds for these scholarships come directly from our donors. Therefore, the number of clients we are able to help each year is dependent on the generosity of those donors.
Over 90% of the women housed in our shelter, and about 55-60% of nonresidential counseling clients, have incomes below the poverty level. For various reasons, many of these women have never received the education or training necessary to obtain adequate employment to support themselves and their children. Clients are encouraged to apply for assistance after they have passed through the crisis stage, and have a safe, stable living environment. Scholarships may be used to cover the cost of tuition, books/supplies, childcare, and transportation assistance.
Are you interested in sponsoring a scholarship in your name? Or in the honor of someone you love? If so, please click the link above.
Please note: Named scholarships require a minimum of $1000 donation. All other donations will be added to the General Fund for Academic Scholarships.
