The OAG’s Office requires that all staff, volunteers, and interns who will be providing direct services to clients complete a 40-hour training program. We are excited to announce that Montgomery County Women’s Center is now offering the opportunity for staff, interns, and volunteers from other organizations the opportunity to attend our agency’s training. Please be advised there will be a nominal $100 fee to attend this training.

The purpose of the OAG Sexual Assault Advocacy Training Program is to provide comprehensive, current, and appropriate advocacy information to staff, interns, and volunteers working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The classroom hours will involve various activities, videos, community and staff presenters, and discussions to increase knowledge and enhance skills. Additionally, there is an 7-hour Self Study packet, which offers national experts and information not otherwise available.

Training is an important tool that facilitates a better understanding of the dynamics of violence and also provides the information and skills needed to help survivors. Many clients arrive in a very fragile state, so it is imperative to know how to address each of the needs and concerns an individual may face. As an advocate providing services to individuals who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, it is imperative to realize that their needs are many times very unique. MCWC is proud to be offering the opportunity to participate in our Sexual Assault Advocacy Training Program.

TO REGISTER FOR ONE OF OUR TRAININGS please contact Henley McCann at HenleyM@mcwctx.org or call (936) 441-4044.
