DESCRIPTION:Parents and High School Aged Teens are encouraged to attend. \nYouth receive volunteer hours for their participation in the committee. Hours are gained by attending meetings\, planning and hosting events\, hosting online social media takeovers\, assisting MCWC staff at community events\, attending workshops\, etc. Recommendation letters can be written for committee members at their request\, outlining the work they have done with the committee and the total number of hours they have participated in the committee. \nThe Montgomery County Women’s Center Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) started in 2017. MCWC acknowledges that youth are experts in their own lives and are key in developing solutions to the health issues in their lives. They are overwhelmed by the generosity of strangers who provide holiday gifts for their families. Just give us a call to schedule your pickup today (936) 441-4044 ext53!! \nSTEP IT UP by getting together with friends\, family and neighbors and organize a group cleanout/ donation. \n  \nWe utilize donations in many ways… all of which benefit victims/survivors in our community. \n\nShelter residents and their children receive shoes and clothing since these items are generally left behind when fleeing.\nVictims/Survivors from our community are able to come shop at the resale shop with vouchers for clothing\, furniture and other necessities.\nTransitional housing apartments are completely furnished with donated furniture and housewares for new residents.\nShelter residents receive furniture and household items when re-building their homes and lives.\nRevenue from the store helps keep the shelter open.\n\n  \nCOME VISIT US AT SOMETHING SPECIAL (Shopping & Donation Hours and Location) \nMonday – Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. \n19073 I-45 South (in the Portofino Plaza next to Sam’s Club)

DESCRIPTION:Gas prices are impacting Americans across the country\, and that includes victims of domestic violence. Along their healing journey\, we work with survivors to help them re-establish a sense of independence and empowerment. One way we do this is by providing gift cards to them throughout the year. That’s why we are hosting a gas card drive to help its clients get to and from work\, school\, errands and much needed services. From therapy to counseling to being housed at the emergency shelter\, it is crucial to keep these services accessible to the women and children who need them. \n  \nDonations can be dropped (or mailed) to: Montgomery County Women’s Center: 1401 Airport Rd\, Conroe\, TX 77301 (Attn: Siomara)
