DESCRIPTION:MCWC is actively recruiting Bachelor’s and Master’s level interns for the Fall 2026 semester. \nAs a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization\, our mission is to lead the effort in preventing domestic violence and sexual assault through crisis intervention\, assistance\, advocacy\, empowerment\, and social change. To better serve our community and provide a more comprehensive learning experience for students\, we have expanded our internship opportunities. \n\nAvailable Placement Departments\nWe are currently accepting applications for the following areas: \nEmergency Shelter: Direct client support in a crisis environment. \nCommunity Outreach: Prevention education and community engagement. \nHospital Advocacy: Providing immediate support to survivors in medical settings. \nLegal Services: Navigating the justice system and protective orders. \nCase Management: Long-term empowerment and resource coordination. \nWhy Intern with MCWC?\nStudents will gain hands-on experience in a trauma-informed environment. SUMMARY:Elder Abuse Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:Elder abuse is a largely hidden and growing problem in the United States. It is defined by law as “an act or omission\, which results in a serious physical or emotional injury to an elderly person or financial exploitation of an elderly person; or the failure\, inability or resistance of an elderly person to provide for himself or herself one or more of the necessities essential for physical and emotional well-being without which the elderly person would be unable to safely remain in the community.”  Elder abuse can include physical\, sexual\, emotional\, neglect\, and financial exploitation. Another form of elder abuse is self-neglect. Every June\, advocates join together across the country for a national effort to raise awareness during Elder Abuse Awareness Month. This annual\, month-long push focuses on advocacy and education on how to recognize the signs of elder abuse and support those who may be experiencing it.

SUMMARY:Flip Flop Donation Drive
DESCRIPTION:This month we are collecting flip flops (and other shoes) for our emergency shelter and sexual assault programs.\n\nShoe drives are a great\, easy way to help us provide those in need with new shoes in order to propel them into a better life. Cleaning out your closets and donating gently-used or new shoes is an easy\, convenient way to help those in need.\n\nThe benefits of hosting/ participating in our shoe drive extend far beyond your doorstep\, because you’ll also help the environment! By hosting a shoe drive\, you help create a sustainable program to recycle athletic shoes which will go to those in our emergency shelter\, transitional housing and counseling programs. Additionally they go to our resale store so people can access quality footwear at affordable prices.
