It is again time to start planning for the Holidays and the Montgomery County Women’s Center Share a Family and Shelter Santa programs! Last year, through the support and kindness of people such as you, these programs fulfilled the needs and wishes of over 100 families. We anticipate greater needs this year, as there is a significant rise in the number of clients seeking services through MCWC.
The traditional Share a Family program matches sponsors with clients and their families. Staff and volunteers of the Women’s Center interview each client to determine their suitability for the program. Prior to Thanksgiving, sponsors will receive a tailored list of needs and wishes for a family who resides in our Transitional Housing, or has received Shelter, Counseling or Legal Services through the agency during the past year.
Shelter Santa offers organizations, businesses and individuals the opportunity to provide essential items for those women and children entering our shelter after the Share a Family interview deadline. Sponsors may purchase items from the needs list, which will be used to assemble a customized gift assortment from Santa proline. Traditionally, the shelter sees an increase of new residents from Thanksgiving through the New Year, and Shelter Santa helps brighten a very difficult time.
We ask you to share the joy of the holiday season and become a 2016 Share a Family or Shelter Santa sponsor. In order to plan the number of families who will receive assistance this year, please return the completed sponsor form by October 15, 2016, or fax to 936-539-8438, Attention: SAF Project Coordinator.
